CPR/AED Course

This course teaches Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and relief of Foreign Body Airway Obstruction (FBAO) for adult, child, and infant victims.

This course is a Heartsaver CPR/AED class for the public, it is not a health care provider renewal course for nurse’s, paramedics, emergency medical technicians or first responders.

Course Goals

After completion of this course, students will be able to:
  • Describe the links in the American Heart Association's "Chain of Survival"
  • Describe the steps of CPR for Adults, Children, and Infants
  • Describe the safe and accurate use of an AED
Students will be able to demonstrate the following skills using manikins:
  • Rescue breathing using mouth-to-mouth ventilation and mouth-to-barrier device ventilation
  • One-rescuer CPR for Adults, Children, and Infants
  • Safe and accurate use of an AED for adults and child victims ≥ 8 years of age or approximately 55 pounds in weight
  • Relief of FBAO in the responsive victim
Students will be expected to perform all skills taught in the class. Those who are sick or have open sores on their mouths will not be allowed until they are well and sores are healed.

Class time is approximately 3 1/2 hours. Upon successful completion of the course, students will have a Heartsaver CPR/AED certification card mailed to them. There will be no course refund after instruction has been delivered.

  • General Admission: $50
  • TCC Members and City Employees: Free
  • TVUSD Employees*: $30
*If you are a TCC Member, City Employee or Temecula Valley Unified School District (TVUSD) employee and wish to register for a CPR/First Aid course, you must do so in person. To register, please bring proof of employment and payment (if applicable) to City Hall or the Community Recreation Center (CRC).

Registration

Register for an offered CPR/AED course on the City of Temecula Online Activity Registration page. If you are a new user to the online registration system, you will need to create a user name and password before registering. This login information can then be used to register for any City sponsored class. Once a user account is created, you can enter the activity number from above to quickly access your desired date or attendance.

Your placement in class will be confirmed by email or phone call; please leave correct contact information. The class size is limited to 20 students.
