Traffic Unit
The Temecula Police Department’s (T.P.D.) Traffic Unit is composed of 10 motorcycle enforcement officers and 7 accident investigators to include a commercial enforcement officer. T.P.D.’s Traffic Unit is responsible for traffic safety and enforcement for the citizens of Temecula, and for traffic education and awareness programs, such as:
- Education presentations given to public, business, and schools
- Experienced through D.U.I./Safety checkpoints
- Seat belt and cell phone enforcement operations
Goals
The goal of T.P.D.’s Traffic Unit is to reduce traffic collisions within the city, and to improve traffic safety for the citizens of Temecula. To accomplish this, T.P.D. partners with state and regional law enforcement utilizing various grant education programs such as outlined above, and through daily enforcement efforts conducted by our dedicated officers.
The Traffic Unit also accomplishes its daily mission through communication with many community partners, as well as working as part of the City of Temecula’s City Manager’s team, working closely with many city department’s to improve public safety and quality of life issues for our citizens. The City of Temecula has consistently been recognized as 1 of the top 10 safest cities in the nation due to the diligence and hard work of all of our city partnerships.
