The American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Course prepares students to teach swim lessons to a variety of ages and skill levels. This three day course will incorporate online learning, in-person lecture and in-water practice. Participants who complete the course will earn an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification.
In order to participate in the course, each person must:
Be 16 years old on or before the final scheduled session of this course.
Successfully complete the Pre-Course Skills Test (see below).
Pre-Course Skills Test
Prospective candidates must pass all pre-course skills test in order to continue in the Water Safety Instructor Course. The Skills Tests consists of the following:
Front crawl - 25 yards
Back crawl - 25 yards
Breastroke - 25 yards
Elementary backstroke - 25 yards
Sidestroke - 25 yards
Butterfly - 15 yards
Float on back for 1 minute
Tread water for 1 minute

*Class dates and times will be updated based on instructor and pool availability.
In order to pass the class and receive certifications, participants must:
Attend and participate in all class sessions.
Demonstrate competency in all required skills and activities.
Demonstrate competency in all required final rescue skill scenarios.
Pass all final written exams with minimum grades of 80%.
Upon successful completion of the course, certifications will be emailed to the email address provided when you sign-up for the class within 2 weeks.
